Gumbo Lily had suggested some Jon Crane, rural Albertan's can't seem to soak up enough Bernie Brown and I'm sporting a fine painting by a two year old. They say it's all about interpretation.
I'd love to quilt a scenic lil' homestead and put it in a barn board frame like I've spied down in Auntie Sue's basement. Doesn't that just sound snug as a bug, cozy? Also sitting high on my wish list would be a big ol, ancient of days, window frame to hang on the wall; maybe I'd punch some tin with our brand on it and frame it in that chipped up paint goodness.
Alas, I keep thinking about all these things that would be swell and don't get any of it done. I'm grateful though, for the windows in our house, because who needs Robert Riggs on the wall when you can look out and spy this.
Yes, and amen. At the close of the day, how about this for a good night kiss?
Can you see the Rockies in the distance? My kiddo loves to 'see the mountains.' Now, shoo, go check out Gumbo Lily's blog-I love her. I think of her as a neighbour because she lives in the north like I---although, we refer to her 'north' as the 'south'...does that make sense?! |

So true. We can try as we might to make our homes beautiful, but God does a much better job at creating beauty.
I was thinking about you today - hope you are all feeling better!! :)
YES, I see the Rockies! Love it! Thanks, Chey!
Imagine being able to see the Rockies! How far away from you are they?
Beautiful - I have many, many "trophies" on my wall - many deer, antelope, bear rug - mmmmmm... not what I ever thought I would decorate with, but it is so "us". P.S. the girls and hubby loved your cake in a cup!!! Thanks for sharing!!
Whatever you hang on your walls, it will speak to who you are. I have horse brasses lined up on a leather strap, a hooked rug featuring a Scotty Dog that was made for Ted's dad as a 3 year old, so it's a family heirloom, a print called "Bringing Buttons home" by Jack MacLean that was my dad's.... it's the things that mean something to us that make them special, not the big name of the artist or a popular style.
And of course, you can't beat something created by the Master's Hand.
Gorgeous sunset!
It reminds me of when we lived in Alaska. On a clear day you could see Denali (Mount McKinley) from Fairbanks - 300 miles away!
Hope you are having a wonderful week!
I have some well eclectic art in my home, things I picked up here and there , but my most treasured artworks are two pencil sketches. One by my honorary niece Angela who is not only a talented artist but will be graduating from WCVM and be a bona fide Veterinarian in April!.The second is by a young woman I came to know through blogging . She is local to me , and when she was having some difficulty I visited her and tried to help . Her thank you to me was a wonderful sketch of my beloved Winston! Another amazing talent!
So beautiful.. I have not been across Canada to view the Rockies... YET... smile.. Who knows..
I love your ideas..
God bless..
What a view! Amazing, those Rockies... and I really like the idea of the old window frame..
I sure do miss seeing the rockies from home (I used to live in Calgary, that i dont miss!) Sure is a pretty picture, too bad it goes away at night ;)
Lovely. I suggest printing pictures of your favorite outdoor scenes, and mounting them with mod podge or the like onto painted or stained wood, or whatever you want to mount them to. I did that with a bunch of our outdoor pics, and I love it. I get a touch of summer in the winter, and vice versa. :-)I blogged about it here. http://www.thehappysanitarium.blogspot.com/2011/08/projects-updated.html
Hey Cheyenne! How nice of you to give me such bloggy love! Thank you. That sunset is the Big Amen to the day, yes? Now, I say you ought to try framing up some photos like that one for your wall. Maybe a collection of that same picutre at different times of the year or at different times of the day.
Nothing like local art!
Jody(sending love from the south-north)
pleeease Chey come visit me. and bring a trailer. One of my favorite antique stores has lots of those window frames and I am certain we could cook up some pretty cool stuff!!! and for only 30 or 40 dollars... thanks for the gorgeous
picture.
Gorgeous photo, girl! The colors are breathtaking!
Have a fantastic week~
