Christmas Concern

I kind of want to make this picture extra small. Camouflage gift wrap? Why is this stuff legal?!

Ladies, tonight I have a little concern floating through my mind. I talked to my friend today who let me know her husband was in Medicine Hat-Christmas shopping. Egads! Someone let this man go ALONE to the city to shop for his wife?

If I was the betting type,  I would start some kind of pool on here with all your guesses of what this man will bring home.

I did write him a list of rules guidelines for him to peruse, but again, if I was the betting kind, I'd like to place a bet to see if that list is printed off and in his wallet.

Where do you think this man stopped first? Let's hope he ran out of gas and had to call his sister. What can we do to stop him, send a messenger pigeon?

If your brother, husband, father, son has trouble shopping for anyone, feel free to consult that guideline and paste it to their forehead. Oh, they'll learn and grow, trust me, it only makes me a little afraid to see that there is camouflage wrapping paper in with the Christmas wrap?! Is my husband hoping that my gift will blend in with the tree?

Mercy, if someday I have a boy, please pray for grace for me!

Sadly, I bought some of the camouflage paper a few years ago. Now I have John Deere, Penguins, Spongebob, and the Comics, lol.

My husband does a good job of shopping on his own, and there is no camo paper here! I guess I'm lucky!

My guy doesn't do a bad job, actually. He used to buy tacky gawdy godawful jewelry and I would say.. "but I'll never wear this king of thing, it's beautiful, honey, but what a waste, I'm just a tomgirl and I know i won't wear it." So after returning said jewelry, he has gotten the hint, and nowadays the gifts are more like "me".

Hmm I was just thinkin the same thing! I asked yesterday if my hubby got me a gift so I could give hium some ideas and he says he already knows what I want but the one he saw last week he didnt like, so now I wonder if hes buying it cause he likes it or ifI will like it??

Oh that paper! It amazes me the things that come in camouflage!

I think I've read your guidelines for men's gift giving before, but it still makes me laugh! And I might need to print it out for my hubby! At least after 9 Christmases together, I've finally learned to not get my hopes up too high on Christmas morning. He means well...and now and then he does get something really good but I would never bet on it ;)

Oh, I'm all for the list! I used to think "he should know me better. he should have listened closer all year. if he really knew me he would just know". After a few, ahem, kitchen appliances, a stressed-out born-nonshopper spouse, and many years of marriage...I make a list. Detailed. Directions to websites, aisles, store shelves, contact names in the store. It's emailed to his blackberry, printed and put in his briefcase, emailed again cause his spam filter lost the first one. And as for the wrapping paper, don't even get me started.

Lol,

Actally, things are a little different at our house, whenever I buy him something like a router or a drill press, he's all happy about it for a second or two, then I see the cogs turning in his mind, his eyes narrow and he gets a suspicious look and says: "wait, you've been wanting one of these!" For his retirement from the army, I bought him a Kitchenaid mixer with the meat grinder attachment so there was no doubt that it was for him. He knows there's no way on God's green earth I would ever ask for a mixer! :)

My Dad has shopped for Mom at Army Surplus (tire chains) and at Goodwill (bras to hook together as a garland to hang from the mantle- an inside joke that was not as funny to her). Since I was scarred in my upbringing I prefer that my husband doesn't get me anything, but last year he did get me a new stove!

I love it, Cheyenne! But, we still just love our hubbies to pieces, don't we??! I totally know how it is except I know my hubs would never buy that wrapping paper! He wouldn't even wrap it!! Let's get together soon & compare notes! ;)

I just can't believe I have never seen this! Where I come from camo is everyday attire,a way to accessorize your vehicle, home, anything and everything they can get their hands on...sheesh.

OH and thank you thank you thank you for your kind comment!!

Lib's sis here. And she is lucky her hubby listens to us about what she wants for Christmas. This year from my hubby, I got a charm bracelet in a jewelry box. That sounds all nice and all that, but it's an ELVIS PRESLEY jewelry box and charm bracelet! (Elvis charms, records, guitars, his face imprinted on the box...)Like, hello, Elvis may be the king and all that, but I am so not an Elvis fan... I tried so hard to be enthusiastic about both the box and the bracelet, but I have to say, I am still not digging it.

And I totally understand about coming home to find the lawn dug up because the "boys" got bored and found the keys to the bobcat. And sometime I will tell you about the time I can home to find the "boys" once again were bored and found the chainsaw. A week and three dump truck loads later, we finally had the branches out of our yard. Note to self- don't ever leave the "boys" home alone again!

Wishing you all the best in 2011!
Kate
