One of Our Last

While the sunlight has enveloped that beautiful hue, combines are circling the fields, and apples are being processed, us northern folks are shakin' in our boots.

There are big, fat flakes in the near forecast. While temperatures are warm now, we know what's coming. Bare legs today, possible snow boots this week.

You would think the earth is near extinction, though, as you hear bits of conversation around these parts.

"Get outside and play! It's going to snow soon and you won't be able to ride your bike so easily!"

"Do you want to come over for a campfire? We should enjoy one of our last nice days."

"We went out to Sheerness to let the kids muck in the water, you know it's all going to be over soon."

Oh, you goofs! Sure, it'll snow, but it will warm up again.  Don't let Environment Canada's potty mouth bring you down. Enjoy what's here today. Get outside! Soak in the rays and don't let it get away.

Yikes! Snow already! You're so right. It'll come and go. We have had early snows in Denver and then warm Indian summer weather for October. I know you'll have harsh weather soon enough. It's kind of dear and folksy that neighbors might have a camp fire. That's sweet! I'm definitely all about riding the bikes for as long as possible. Which reminds me that Bill should put some air in my tires and some oil in my car.
Enjoy the sunshine, sprite!

I'm one of those people always saying that we have to enjoy such and such or do such and such because the warm weather will soon be gone. Terrible isn't it. I'll try to remember your post and that summer will come around again.

Cheyenne, you write so beautifully! We are a little south of you...but I can feel a nip in the air and need to be conscious to enjoy these last few warm days! Hope you are doing well!

The oranges of Autumn are the prettiest oranges of the year i think. Cheyenne, in the photo at the bottom of the page, is that you with those Long Legs sitting atop the pony? Are those your brothers/cousins/neighbors? I have wondered about this photo for a long time...

Of course it will warm up again. It's global warming, right? ;-)

Some days I miss Alaska. Don't get near as much fall down here as I would like, haha.

Gorgeous sunsets!

Have a blessed week. ♥

Last week it was in the upper 90s here in MO. Over the weekend we had highs in the 70s. This morning it was 57. Going to be back to 90 tomorrow, then highs in the 60s by the end of the week. That's how fall goes in Missouri! Enjoy your good weather. I'm sure not ready for snowflakes!!
